November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, an important time for healthcare professionals at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Lung cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the lungs. It is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.1 Among women in the US, it has surpassed breast cancer, becoming the leading cause of cancer deaths nationally.2
Join for this Wednesday Wisdom Health Hour where Mohammad Jahanzeb, MD, FACP will share knowledge and increase awareness surrounding the disease.
Guest Speaker Bio
Mohammad Jahanzeb, MD, FACP
Medical Oncologist/Hematologist
Board-certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Mohammad Jahanzeb specializes in the clinical research and treatment of breast and lung cancers. He has given more than 900 lectures around the globe on these topics as an invited speaker and has authored or contributed to more than 200 original reports, book chapters, reviews and abstracts.
Dr. Jahanzeb received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College at Punjab University in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He completed residency training at New Britain General Hospital at the University of Connecticut in New Britain and was named as senior fellow during his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Washington University’s Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists in 2022, Dr. Jahanzeb served as Chief of Medical Oncology Scientific and Strategic Advisor for GenesisCare. He was the Founder and former Managing Partner of Florida Precision Oncology Research and Consulting, LLC . He has held a number of academic appointments and currently serves as Clinical Affiliate Professor in the Department of Integrated Medicine at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Jahanzeb is a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a distinction that recognizes extraordinary volunteer service, engagement, dedication and commitment to ASCO. He is also a member of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology Board of Directors, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Association for Advancement of Science and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He served for ten years on the Board of Directors and the expert panels for Lung Cancer and Breast Cancer of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
Dr. Jahanzeb enjoys writing prose and poetry, reading non-medical literature and biking.
