Join us for an exclusive in-person event hosted by the Black Chamber of Palm Beach County and proudly sponsored by the City of West Palm Beach. Dive deep into the realms of mental health and wellness with our distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Phillips, at our "Ask An Expert" Luncheon. This engaging session is designed to provide you with insights and strategies for improving mental health and understanding the impacts of trauma and stress.
About Dr. Phillips:
Dr. Phillips was born and raised in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Phillips has always had a deep desire to understand the human mind and help his fellow man. This led to him becoming a student peer counselor and President of his high school student peer council.
While studying at Upstate Medical University Dr. Phillips had special interest in Addiction which led to him completing a fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in NY, NY. Before this fellowship Dr. Phillips completed training in Dynamic Deconstructive Psychotherapy at Upstate Medical University. DDP, as it is commonly known, is an evidence-based approach to the treatment of borderline personality disorder as well as many other mood disorders. He also learned skills in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Phillips started and ran a medication assisted treatment program as well as an accompanying bridge program while living in Eastern Washington State.
At C Psychiatric solutions, Dr. Phillips is treating special populations that are often untreated or undertreated. These will be patient struggling with mental health and addiction, athletes and performing artist with mental health concerns and last but not least people belonging to the Black and Caribbean communities.
